2016 Yakima Valley Mourvedre
80% mourvedre and 20% grenache. This mourvedre comes from Minick Vineyard in the Yakima valley. These grapes were always our last to harvest, usually near Halloween. This wine shows off the different way mourvedre expresses itself at a cooler site. Slightly more nuanced than the bigger and bolder fruit we get from Red Mountain, this wine shows cassis, plum, sage, game, and spice.
Production notes
The wine was made by gently crushing and de-stemming the clusters directly into bins without the use of a must pump. Approximately lO% of the grapes were fermented as whole clusters. Fermentation was completed using commercial yeasts and then the wine was pressed into 3-5 year old French 225L barrels where ML took place. The wine was aged for approximately 2O months before bottling. No fining took place and the wine was filtered through a coarse pad to remove the lees.
