2016 Rocky Relationship
lOO% Syrah from Winesap vineyard. Coming from the Oregon side of Walla Walla Valley, cooler site than our red mountain vineyard but slightly warmer than Les Collines and also having much different soils than both. The palate has a luscious mouthfeel with boysenberry blackcurrant, leather, and cocoa.
The wine was made by gently crushing and de-stemming the clusters directly into bins without the use of a must pump. Approximately 33% of the grapes were fermented as whole clusters. Fermentation was completed using commercial yeasts and then the wine was pressed into 3-5 year old French 225L barrels where ML took place. The wine was aged for approximately 3O months before bottling. No fining took place and the wine was filtered through a coarse pad to remove the lees.
